The AlarmKey Support Team received a call from the hands-on owner asking why he was not able to change the invoice amounts or delete invoices from the software. He was ranting and raving that he could do it with his previous software why couldn’t he do it with this one?
Basic accounting practices say that once payment is made against an invoice, you should not be able to change it. Still, he was adamant about the change and so we asked him to put this request in-writing to us.
All customizations made to the AlarmKey Enterprise software require a functional write-up to be sent to all parties within the organization for approval. This was no different. We sent the customization request to both owners and received a call from the hands-off owner asking why this was necessary.
It was soon discovered that the hands-on owner had been stealing millions of dollars from the company’s bottom-line for the past 8 years. Through our simple procedural balance and a little bit of simple thinking on our Support Team’s part, we were able to eliminate corruption within the company and obviously increase its profits significantly.
